AirWave Adjustable Octopus
The AirWave was a favorite among Scuba Diving Magazine’s test divers, earning the highest total ergo score in the Backup Breather category. Basically, it works great, lasts long and is priced right.
The AirWave connects its low-pressure hose on the left side of the casing so the octo can be directed to an out-of-air diver while minimizing radical hose bends. The mouthpiece comes out of the side of the casing, adjacent to, rather than on the opposite side of, the purge, thereby creating a conducive angle for air sharing. It also creates a low-profile for easy stowage. The AirWave doesn’t have an exhaust tee, but bubbles vent out the side, relatively clear of your line of vision. The octo comes with a 36” hose, a high-vis yellow full-cover purge, and a dive/pre-dive switch.
The AirWave is a good breather in all positions, and very dry. High performance combined with rock-bottom prices make the AirWave a Best Buy according to Scuba Diving Magazine. XS Scuba also offers a conversion kit that will turn the Air Wave into an in-line octo that ties into your BC’s inflator hose.
Adjustable To Prevent Freeflows
The AirWave is designed with the philosophy that the best way to assist an out-of-air diver is to give them your octopus. Therefore, the hose orientation is designed to be on the diver's right side so the AirWave can be given to an out-of-air diver without the need for "S" turns. This unique mouthpiece orientation is the reverse of many octopuses but truly is the best design. The adjustment feature allows the diver to change the direction of the air flow to prevent any annoying free flow.
